Evaluation programme – Victoria University’s Louise Starkey (supervisor) and summer scholar Maddie White began a comparative longitudinal study, evaluating the use of chromebooks for teaching and learning at Porirua schools – the programme began 1 Dec 2015. Thanks to Victoria University for partially funding the study, and to J R McKenzie for their funding contribution.

Software development – Project with Whitireia students to develop a way to track sales and payments and share that information with participant schools. A summer internship with one of the project team enabled roll-out of our new ITS dashboard in term 1 2016 – thanks to Whitireia NZ for their contribution to this programme of work.

Office and systems established – with space at Whitireia NZ secured for office staff and stock – thanks to Whitireia NZ for their generous support.

About the programme

Te Mana o Kupe was established by a small group of trustees who have worked alongside parents and schools to promote digital citizenship. They are volunteers committed to supporting inclusive teaching and learning – a level playing field for all our rangatahi. This extends to finding ways to support:

• innovative, digitally-significant teaching programmes, within a robust curriculum
• a seamless teaching and learning experience between home and school that bridges learning gaps and accelerates achievement
• whānau positively investing in their children’s home and school learning
